Exportelier Automation
Exportelier Automation is a separate Forge app that adds everything involving outbound traffic: scheduled exports, email delivery, webhooks and an API. It exists as a second app on purpose — it carries all external traffic so the main app can guarantee your data never leaves Atlassian.
Administration → Automation: connection setup and bridge status.
What it adds
- Scheduled exports — run an export on a schedule and deliver the result automatically.
- Email delivery — send generated documents to recipients.
- Webhooks — notify Slack through incoming webhooks or Microsoft Teams through Workflows.
- API — trigger exports programmatically.
The egress-free Generate Exportelier Document action belongs to the main Exportelier app and remains available in Free. It attaches the generated document to Jira; installing Exportelier Automation is not required for that workflow.
Connecting the two apps
The two apps are paired by one shared value: the key of a Jira project that acts as their mailbox. Exportelier writes template snapshots there as Jira project properties, Automation reads them. There is no token, no secret and no external service involved — nothing leaves Atlassian.
Set it up in this order:
- Pick a carrier project. Any regular Jira project works. We recommend a
dedicated admin project (for example with the key
EXPORTELIER) so the bridge data stays out of the way. Only template layouts and a license marker are stored there — never issue data. - Save the project key in Exportelier. Go to Apps → Exportelier → Administration → Automation, enter the key and save. Exportelier publishes the handshake to that project immediately, and the Bridge status on that tab shows when it was published and which license tier it carries.
- Install Exportelier Automation from the Atlassian Marketplace. It is free to install.
- Enter the same key in Automation. Open Setup and paste the identical project key into Carrier project key. The checklist then shows Detected, Paid and Fresh, and the header switches to Ready.
Either the key does not match exactly, or the handshake has not been published yet. Open the Automation tab in Exportelier and select Check connection — it publishes the handshake straight away.
Automation also requires the handshake to stay fresh: Exportelier republishes it daily, and Automation locks if it is older than 48 hours.
Security posture
All egress is isolated in this app, with SSRF protection and provider-specific secret URLs. If your security policy forbids outbound traffic, you can simply not install it — the main Exportelier app keeps working with no external calls.
Pricing
Exportelier Automation is a free Marketplace install with no separate subscription. It unlocks automatically with an active Standard entitlement, including the $0 Standard tier for eligible small sites.
Many regulated teams run the main app alone. Add Automation later if and when you need scheduling or delivery — nothing changes about the main app's guarantees.
