Scheduled exports

Scheduled exports run an export automatically on a timetable and deliver the result — no one has to remember to click Export. This feature is part of the Exportelier Automation app.

Creating a schedule​

Before your first schedule, both apps have to be paired — see Connecting the two apps. Until that is done, Automation stays locked and shows its Setup screen instead of the schedule list.

  1. Open Exportelier Automation.
  2. Create a schedule: choose the context (issue, JQL, board, sprint, release, backlog), a template, and a format.
  3. Set the cadence (for example, every Friday, or at sprint end).
  4. Choose a delivery target — see Email delivery or Webhooks.

What a scheduled run can see​

A scheduled run happens when nobody is signed in, so it reads Jira with the app's own permissions rather than yours. Project permissions do not narrow it. A schedule can therefore export issues you cannot open yourself, and this is what makes unattended automation possible at all.

Three things follow, and the app makes each of them visible:

  • The issue count is shown twice. When you enter JQL, the form tells you how many issues the schedule will read and how many of those you can see. If the numbers differ, decide carefully where the result gets delivered — anyone who can read the delivery target will see the whole export.
  • A fixed attachment target must be an issue you can open. You can attach a report to an issue in another project — a tracking or management issue is a common choice — but not to one you cannot see yourself.
  • A schedule needs a live owner. If the account a schedule was created under is deactivated or deleted, the schedule is switched off automatically and its run history says why. Recreate it under an active account to continue.

Managing schedules​

Edit, pause or delete schedules at any time. Paused schedules keep their configuration but do not run.

Scheduling lives in the optional Automation app, which carries all outbound traffic. The main app never sends anything externally. See Security architecture.
