Limits reference
A single place to find the limits that apply. Day-to-day context is in Limits & quotas.
Exports
- Free: 15 successful exports per UTC calendar month and Jira site.
- Standard: unlimited exports, subject to fair use.
Templates and fonts
- Free: three custom templates and one uploaded custom-font family. Bundled templates and fonts do not count.
- Standard: unlimited custom templates and custom-font families, subject to fair use.
Background jobs
Large result sets switch to background processing automatically — see Large exports & background jobs.
Category charts and Designer preview
- A Category chart outputs at most 20 categories. Additional categories follow the component's Other or visible truncation setting.
- A template can contain at most 30 Category charts.
- A multi-issue Designer preview uses at most 50 issues. The exported document still uses the complete selected issue set, subject to the normal export and background-job limits.
Time series
| Bucket interval | Maximum buckets |
|---|---|
| Day | 366 |
| Week | 104 |
| Month | 60 |
The limit applies after the inclusive range is divided into calendar buckets. Exportelier rejects an oversized configuration when the template is saved; it does not truncate the curve. A Time series contains 1–4 series. Weeks start on the component's explicit Monday/Sunday setting, and months are local calendar months rather than fixed 30-day periods.
Reports
Limits for the report builder. Every one of these is enforced on the server, and named in the exported document whenever it actually truncates data.
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Data sources per report | 8 |
| Distinct Saved Filter searches per report | 8 |
| Issues read per data source | 500 |
| Unique issues across one report | 2 000 |
| Data-driven components per report | 30 |
| Issue-table rows per component | 200 |
| Matrix buckets per axis | 12 |
| Jira searches running at once, per export | 2 |
Report exports run in the background. The finished document is deleted once downloaded and expires after 1 hour if it is not — see Data retention & GDPR.
Report exports and ordinary exports share one ceiling of 3 running jobs per person, so the number shown in the UI is the number that applies.
Dashboard import
Limits for importing a Jira dashboard. A dashboard above the analysis cap is never truncated silently: you choose which gadgets to import, and the rest are named in the report's completeness notice.
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Gadgets analysed per import | 12 |
| Gadgets offered for selection above that cap | 60 |
| Dashboards listed per page in the picker | 25 |
| Dashboard-name search length | 100 characters |
An imported report is an ordinary report and inherits every report limit above.
Delivery
- Email attachments are subject to size limits — see Email delivery.
- Recipients per email target: 50, for BYO and Managed Mail alike. Larger distributions belong on a group address.
- Email subject: 200 characters. Line breaks and other invisible control characters are removed before sending.
- BYO email: recipients do not count toward the Managed Mail cap.
- Managed Mail (current launch limit): exactly 500 recipients per Jira site and UTC calendar month. Each recipient counts. A send that would exceed the cap is rejected before the mail provider is called.
- API requests: 60 per minute per token, counted in a fixed one-minute window. Replays of a request carrying the same
Idempotency-Keydo not count against it. - API token validity: 30, 90, 180 or 365 days, chosen when the token is generated (90 by default). There is no unlimited option; Rotate issues a new secret and restarts the period.
- API token activity log: the 20 most recent triggered exports per token.
Audit window and retention
- Free: the latest 30 days are visible and exportable. This Free window does not delete older entries.
- Standard: physical retention is configurable from 30 to 730 days with a daily auto-purge.
After an upgrade, older entries may become visible and exportable again if the configured retention purge has not already removed them.
Specific numeric thresholds are shown in-product and may change between releases. This page will be kept in sync.
