Limits & quotas

Free plan export quota
Free allows 15 successful exports per UTC calendar month and Jira site. A single-issue, JQL, board, sprint, release, backlog, background-job or native Jira Automation export counts once when it is delivered successfully. Designer previews, Word preview downloads, failed exports and audit-log downloads do not count.
Free also allows three custom templates, one uploaded custom-font family and audit-log viewing and CSV/JSON export for the latest 30 days. The Free audit window does not delete older entries; after an upgrade they may become visible again if the configured retention purge has not removed them. Bundled templates and fonts do not use those creation limits. Standard removes these usage limits and unlocks Exportelier Automation.
How reports use your quota
Reports are not billed separately. They use the two allowances you already have:
- A report export counts as one export against the Free monthly quota, like any other successful export. It is charged once, even if the background job is retried internally.
- A report's template counts as one custom template against the Free three-template limit. The bundled Dashboard Report Standard does not count — but the editable copy that New report from Dashboard Report Standard creates does, because it is a custom template like any other.
Creating a report at the template limit therefore fails with the ordinary template-limit message. Deleting a report keeps its template; delete the template separately if you want the slot back.
Report exports and ordinary exports also share one ceiling of 3 running background jobs per person.
A report created by dashboard import is an ordinary report and counts exactly the same way. One import analyses at most 12 gadgets; a larger dashboard is not truncated — you are asked which gadgets to take, and the rest are named in the report's completeness notice.
Result-set thresholds
Large bulk/JQL result sets switch automatically to a background job so your browser is not blocked.
Sizes
Very large documents can exceed email attachment limits; download them from Exportelier or split the export. Slack and Teams webhooks send notification metadata, not the generated file — see Large exports & background jobs.
What happens at the limit
When you reach the Free monthly quota, exporting is paused until the next period or until you upgrade — see Plans & features.
